Samsung N71 32″
by Marcus on February 24, 2007
Did some more research and stumbled upon the N71-series from Samsung, their leading series of LCD-TVs at the moment (one step under the M71-series), and I chose the 32" model. I wanted to buy it yesterday but neither Fona in Kolding nor Elgiganten had any. Fortunately they had one left at Fona in my town. Yay!

IS IT GREAT IS IT GREAT??
It seems the resolution isn’t the only thing that makes a TV run 1080p — most confusing.
And what about your Wii, you’ve got that hooked up via Component now? — how’s that working out?

It’s sooo great! :D The 360 games are just incredible. I’m having some problems with my DVD-player though, it’s connected via SCART and the screen is a bit distorted, but seeing as the 360 can play DVDs and it’s connected via component I’m probably not going to use the old DVD-player anymore. DVDs look awesome when played via the 360 btw.
Also the analogue antenna signal isn’t exactly beautiful, but I knew that before I bought the TV. :)

Need to go buy a component cable for the Wii soon. :)

Oh yeah, those aren’t included… but wait, won’t you need a Component switch or something, then?

Yeah, unfortunately. :)

How about your PS2, how’s that look via SCART? You don’t have the same problems as with the DVD player, do you?

Haven’t tried that yet, the Wii via SCART looks horrible though, just like the DVD.

I know I ask a lot of questions… ;)
By the way, I misinterpretated you before… there ARE no 1920×1080 panels with a diagonal size below 37″, so if you don’t have the space, you’ll want to go with 32″ or lower, yeah.
I read it as though you thought there were no TVs on the market that could handle a 1080p signal ;) .

*inferior to 37″, to be a bit fussy, hah.
Sure would be nice with some edit buttons, but I suppose you aren’t in a position to do that…

I don’t exactly know what you mean by “sløringsproblemer” (I don’t know the english phrase either :P), but the only display issues I’ve had is the analog tv-signal and the scart-connected dvd-player. Gears of War (and everything else on the Xbox 360) looks so frickin’ incredible I can’t even explain it. I’m seriously just browsing through the dashboard sometimes because it looks so fantastic.
I don’t know how it performs compared to a LCD-monitor, but I’m actually using the TV as the PC-monitor right now (connected directly with a VGA port), and I’ve been playing Day of Defeat: Source and LoTR Online on it, I don’t think I’ll ever go back to playing PC games on my normal CRT monitor, games in widescreen ftw! :D
Ah, we agree on the 1080p issue then. :) And no, unfortunately I can’t add an edit-button. Well, maybe I can with the right hack, I’ll go look. :P

What did you think of gears of war on your HDTV?
