No more Potter

I’m feeling weird. About an hour ago I finished Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the last book in the Harry Potter series. I’ve been reading since 9 AM, so I feel kind of dizzy. I don’t know how to feel at the moment, I’m not disappointed; it’s just strange that there will be no more Harry Potter. I’ll probably write something more tomorrow. For now, I’m off to bed. :)

  1. I hope she makes some books on the other characters, as she promised more or less.

When did she do that? Last I heard she said there was no need to make a prequel surrounding James and his friends – are you talking about encyclopedias or what?

teh bookz RULEZ! unfortunately I’m not going to read the last one before I finish number six again.

    You gave them a 10/10?

  5. Yes, I did.

So is a 10/10 perfect or is it just the top score?

  7. In my opinion there’s no such thing as a perfect book or movie. I gave the HP series a 10/10 because I’m pretty sure it’s the best series of books I will ever read.

Then it’s the top score, I gather. ;)
Well it might be the best series of books I’ll ever read, too, but that alone doesn’t justify a topscore, huh? Well, maybe when we distinguish between a single book and a series, but I still think they’ve had their flaws (first six, of course), and that just makes me go with 9/10 for now. But if there’s a really fantastic ending in the DH, then I might think it’s a sufficiently better than 9/10 that I’d round up (!) my score to a 10/10.

And just to clarify things, I want to say that I really think people use a top score way to liberally. I mean, say there’s a piece of art, could be anything, that you really, really love, and this certainly deserves the top score. But then what if there’s another piece of art (of the same medium and genre – of course!) that you like even more, then what do we do? 11/10? Fuck that! You’re right, there is no perfect movie, but people should think more about how they use the top score.

Of course, I was just trying to imply that I believe they’re the best books I’ll ever read because I think they’re brilliant, and therefore also deserve a 10/10.

I totally agree with the use of topscores, I very, very rarely use 10/10 myself, I’ve only rated four movies that high, out of 220 movies, on my IMDB profile (http://imdb.com/mymovies/list?l=14845229).
